COLD / WINDY / SNOW TRACES 5th: Very windy today as arctic cold front plows through with strong west winds today gusting to 40 mph. Also a few snow flurries today around noon. 6th: Cloudy and cold high only 28 F. 7th: Some light snow showers this morning 8:30am-10am. Became very windy between 10am-2pm with WNW winds gusting up to 34 mph. 8th: Cloudy day. Gusty strong winds this evening from WNW up to 31 mph. 9th: Cloudy today with a few hours of very light snow early this afternoon but no accumulation Snow melted as it hit the ground, trace. 11th: Cloudy damp hazy day. Strong breezes from the SSE this evening to 26 mph. ARCTIC FRONT / STRONG WINDS 12th: Temperature shot up briefly to 48 F. this mornig at 6am just before a strong arctic cold front came through. Then very strong WNW winds blew in gusting to 47 mph this morning and rapidly falling temps into the 30's. Frequent wind gusts to 40+ mph all morning. Winds gradually diminished throughout the evening. Wind chills were in the teens and single digits today. HEAVY ICE STORM 13th: Periods of sleet and freezing this evening began 7:30pm this evening with a few flakes of snow mixed in. Sleet moderate towards midnight. 14th: Sleet and freezing changed to all freezing rain overnight and was heavy at times coating everything with a heavy ice buildup. Trees and wires hanging heavy and low with ice. Also power outages and broken trees. 0.5" of ice on the ground. The total water content 1.33". Ice remained on trees most of the day and temp was in low 30's until late afternoon and earl evening then it shot up to 41 F. along with gust WNW winds to 27 mph. COLD RAIN 16th: Light rain began 7:30am. Rain drizzle and increasing fog today. Heavier downpours this evening with .69" by midnight. Temps were in low to mid 30's all day began rising late this evening to 37 by midnight with fog forming. 17th: Rain and fog overnight .21" with some thunder and lightning. Rising temps all night to 50 by 8am. Cloudy with fog all morning. Became windy this afternoon as strong arctic cold front came through with snow showers. West winds gusting as high as 43mph late afternoon and this evening along with rapidly falling temperatures into the 20's Wind chills zero and lower. 18th: Cold and windy overnight with WNW winds gusting to 31 mph wind chills well below zero. Sunny cold breezy day high 33 F. SNOW / COLD 19th: Light snow began 8:00am. Snow all day light to moderate with a few brief heavier periods. 4.8" total on ground. Most snow ended by 10pm wind increasing from NW. 20th: Cold and windy overnight with some drifting snow as winds gusted to 29 mph. Wind chills as low as -20 F overnight. Sunny cold and windy today. 21st: Very cold overnight with a low of 8 F. 22nd: Snow flurries this morning. Windy and colder with falling temps all day into teens by late afternoon. WNW winds today gusting to 40 mph as another strong arctic front moves in plunging wind chills to -20 F. 23rd: Very cold overnight low of 3 F. BRIEFLY ABOVE 32 F. 24th: Cold morning low of 12 F but after 5 days and 21 hours of temperatures of 32 F or lower it finally went above freezing today with a surprising high of 41 F. But windy and colder again this evening with NW winds gusting to 30 mph. 25th: CHRISTMAS DAY- It's white! with 2" of old snow still on the ground. Cold and mostly sunny. 26th: Cold and breezy. 27th: Cloudy with a few snow flurries today. 28th: A dusting of snow overnight from snow squalls 5-6am. Cold and breezy today. 30th: Mostly cloudy with some snow flurries today. Windy with N winds to 29 mph. 31st: Temperature was up abit but woind ws stron gfrom the WNW gusting to 38 mph. Also a few snow flurries today. December 2000 was the 5th Coldest on Record with an average of 26.8 F Normal is 34.3. The coldest December ever was in 1917 with an average of 22.0 and a more recent cold December in 1989 with an average of 23.0 which was the 2nd coldest December ever.
