VERY MILD PERIOD / SPRINGLIKE WEATHER 2nd: Rapid Warm up High of 58 F. But not a record. 3rd: Another mild day 58 F. High. No records set. 4th: Very Warm High of 68 F. But still not a record which was 73 just last year on this date 1997. 5th: Mild Again 66 F. 6th: High of 66 F. TIED RECORD for date set in 1950. Periods of rain today 5am - 7:30am, Noon - 6pm. .15" fell. Evening Fog. 7th: Warm again high 66 F. Close to record of 69 in 1907. Rain 3:30pm - 10pm .48" fell. 8th: RECORD HIGH for today. It was 66 F. at midnight and that had already broken the record for today which was 64 in 1907. The temp went up to 67 F. around 5am. Strong winds and heavy downpours this morning 5am - 7am . Wind gusts from the SSE to 31 mph. Periods of rain throughout the day .87". High of 68 F. this afternoon. Ominous sky 3:30pm-4pm. THUNDERSTORMS / HAIL 9th: Another 60 degree day as temp hit 61 at 2:47am making 6 in a row. Thunderstorm this morning 3am - 3:30am with some rather intense lightning, rainfall .21", wind gust to 21 mph. More thunderstorms moved in 8:30am - 9:30am, Pea sized hail fell, wind gusts to 31 mph, showers continued through 11:30am another .30" fell. Strong West winds up to 34 mph and colder temperatures as cold front finally came through this afternoon. A LITTLE SNOW 12th: Period of light wet snow, Snow pellets, some sleet then some rain 3pm - 6pm Trace, No accumulation. 13th: Few light showers this morning 5:30am-6:30am and around 1pm" .02" Windy and colder this afternoon and evening. ICE 15th: Light snow began 4:30am and quickly turned to sleet & Freezing rain. Became all Freezing rain by 10am and continued all day and moderate in intensity this evening. The temperature stayed below 32 F. all day but finally crept up to 33 F. by 8:30pm. by then a moderate Ice accumulation was on everything. Some minor Problems with Power lines etc. and some minor tree damage. Rainfall total 1.05 16th: Some light rain, drizzle and fog overnight .04". No more freezing. Cloudy today a little drizzle. 17th: Periods of light rain and drizzle from 2pm into this evening .10" 18th: Few snow flurries this morning. 19th: Few snow flurries this evening. 20th: A few snow furries this afternoon. WET SNOW / RAIN / SNOW 22nd: Wet Snow Began Falling at 8:45pm, Became light to moderate with 0.5" on the ground at midnight. 23rd: Snow moderate at times till around 2am when it began to change to rain, some sleet. Total snow accumulation 1.5". Snow was wet and temp was above freezing most of the time. Rain moderate at times from 2am through noon. Mostly light rain and drizzle this afternoon and evening. Total 1.48" washed away most of the snow on the ground. MORE SNOW 24th: Few flurries this afternoon. Snow became heavier and steady at 5:50pm and snow was moderate to heavy through 7:30pm then it became lighter and tapered off by midnight. Total snowfall 1.7" MOSTLY RAIN 27th: Periods of rain with some snow and sleet mixed in at times since 1:30pm. Precip became heavier this evening but no snow or ice accumulation .31" by midnight. 28th: Rain overnight with some sleet mixed in at times but no accumulation here in town. Gusty North winds up to 29 mph. Rain today ended by 3:00pm 1.03" fell. 29th: Black ice from left over moisture that froze and fog caused very dangerous driving conditions this morning. Numerous accidents reported. Became much warmer today high of 56 F. January 1998 was the 3rd Wettest on record with 6.22" of precipitation The wettest was in 1996 with 7.71" This was the 5th Warmest January on record with an average temp of 39.4 F. The warmest was in 1932 with a 42.9 average.
