Heavier showers and downpours this evening between 8-11pm with .71" of rain by midnight. 2nd: A few more light showers overnight. Periods of rain throughout the day and evening with a total of .25". INTENSE STORMS / FLOODING DOWNPOURS 3rd: Some light rain drizzle and fog overnight. Hazy warm and very humid today. Intense thunderstorms this evening with very heavy rains between 7:30pm - 10pm. Close to 3 inches fell at this station but areas in the south end of town got hit hard with reports of 4 to 6 inches or more in some spots. Much flash flooding reported. The storms were training over the same area. They also had very wicked and frequent lightning. A lot of water damage reported across the region. 4th: More storms and downpours overnight with thunderstorms movinig in around 4am dropping another inch. Mostly cloudy hazy and very humid today. A few sprinkles this evning as a cold front passes around 9pm. 5th: Started out sunny but post frontal clouds made the day rather cloudy and cool with a high of only 70 F. 6th: Mostly sunny and pleasant high of 76 F. 7th: Dense fog overnight and this morning. Partly cloudy today high 79 F. 8th: Some fog this morning. Partly cloudy today. 9th: Light rain, drizzle & fog overnight mainly 3-5am .09". Some clearing late in day. 10th: Mostly sunny today high 76 F. 11th: Dense fog overnight and this morning. Sunny high of 80 F. today. RAIN 12th: Cloudy, breezy and cool with some light rain this afternoon and evening .06" 13th: Rain overnight and today was moderate at times this morning. Some clearing later in the day. Rainfall total today was .75". 14th: Some dizzle overnight and this morning. Mostly cloudy humid day. 15th: Fog overnight. Partly cloudy hazy warm humid today. Thunderstorm 4:30pm - 6pm with .45" of rain wind gust to 24 mph. 16th: Some fog this morning them bright sunshine rest of day. 17th: Fog overnight and this morning. HURRICANE / TROPICAL STORM ISABEL MOVES IN 18th: Rains and wind from hurricane Isabel begins this afternoon around 2:30pm. Increasing wind and rain into the evening with heavy rain squalls and wind gusts to 50 mph at times. 1.61" of rain by midnight. 19th: Very strong wind and rain all night with many gusts from the east to 50+ mph and several gusts to 60 mph and a peak gusts of 63 mph around 1am. Winds were averaging around 40 - 45 mph for several hours. 1.23" midnight- 7am. More showers today total rain today 1.28". Total rain from storm event 2.89" Flooding not as serious as expected but some moderate flooding was reported. Winds did a good bit of damage to many trees and wires and some structural damge reported. Also a lot of power outages. Winds that strong and steady are very rare for my station location especially from east direction, and when the peak gusts of 60+ came through I actually felt the house move. WOW! 20th: Fog overnight. Partly cloudy hazy high 78 F. MORE RAIN 22nd: Rain began late this afternoon continued this evening with .43" by midnight. Windy today with SE winds gusting to 32 mph. 23rd: Rain continued overnight moderate to heavy at times with some thunder .86" fell midnight through 7am. Rain was much heavier to the east in Frederick County with over 4 inches reported in some areas and major flooding problems. 24th: Sunny and nice high of 73 F. 25th: Showers this evening between 5pm - 8pm .04" THUNDERSTORMS / SEPT RAINFALL RECORD BROKEN 27th: Sunny windy and warm today high of 80 F. SE winds gusting to 27 mph. Thunderstorms and showers this evening between 7:30pm - midnight dropped .94" of rain. This brought the montly rain total up to 11.41" This breaks the September record of 10.54" in 1996. 28th: More light showers this moring around 6am .02" Partly cloudy breezy and cooler today. Dark skies, gusty winds and drop in temperature around 6pm with WNW winds gusting to 37 mph. Some more light showers this evening. .04" total today. 29th: Partly cloudy windy and cool today high only 62 F. West winds gusting to 34 mph. 30th: Chilly morning low of 40 F. Sunny and cool today.
