TROPICAL SYSTEM BRINGS RAIN & MORE RAIN ! 4th: Some tropical downpours and some gusty winds this afternoon 2:30pm-4:30pm as the edge of tropical storm dennis moves this way. Some more showers this evening .45" by midnight. 5th: Breezy overnight but no rain fell. Periods of showers today between 10am -3pm some thunder. More showers this afternoon and evening with a rather heavy downpour between 8pm-9pm .62" fell today. 6th: Warm and tropical today. Showers this afternoon and evening. Some thunder early this afternoon. Some heavy downpours late this evening. .99" fell today. 7th: Showers midnight- 1am .03" Fog overnight. Warm and very humid today. Thunderstorm with heavy downpours between 6pm-7pm .72" of rain fell in about 30 minutes some pea sized hail also fell and some sharp lightning. 8th: Intense lightning and thunder from nearby storms just to east and southeast 1am -3am Only a trace of rain fell here. 9th: Fog overnight and this morning. Hazy Warm and very humid today. Showers and thunderstorms this evening Between 8pm-10:30pm .21" fell. 10th: Fog overnight. Showers 3am-4am. .02" Became sunny plesant and less humid today. 11th: A beautiful sunny day. 12th: Another bright sunny day. 13th: Bright and Sunny. MORE TROPICAL RAINS FROM FLOYD 15th: Few showers overnight. Periods of rain today moderate between 10am - 3pm. Rain was from a combination of outer edges of Hurricane Floyd and a front to the west. More rain this evening. 1.10" fell today. 16th: Rain overnight but not as heavy as expected .61" by 7am. Rain throughout the day was moderate at times most ended by 3:30pm 1.49" fell today 2.59" from the system. Winds became stronger this afternoon and evening with gusts to 32 mph from NW. No serious flooding reported in this area from the rains but eastern Maryland, Virginia etc. were hit exremely hard with very serious flooding with over 10 inches of rain in some areas also strong winds from Floyd caused damage in that area. SUNNY NICE 17th: Back to bright sunshine a very nice day just a bit breezy. 18th: Chilly low of 44 F. Sunny nice day, 19th: Sunny nice 78 F. A LITTLE MORE RAIN 20th: Rain showers late this afternoon and evening .43" 21st: Few sprinkles overnight. Cloudy today showers late this afternoon and this evening. .11" 22nd: Showers midnight - 1:30am .07" 23rd-26th: Four beautiful days in a row with bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures. RAIN 27th: Cloudy all day and humid rain began arount 8pm - midnight .30" fell. 28th: Periods of rain overnight. Few light showers today .34" fell. RAIN / STRONG WINDS 29th: Few light showers and some drizzle today. Steadier and heavier rain this evening. High winds and very heavy rain just before midnight as very intense cold front came through with winds gusting to 45 mph. Winds were sustained near 30 mph for about 5 minutes. Some minor damage and some power outages reported from the wind. 30th: Rain overnight midnight - 3am .52" fell. Clearing breezy and cool today. September 1999 was the 3rd wettest on record with 8.67" of rain. The second wettest was in 1975 with 10.09". The wettest ever was 1996 with 10.54"
